Mama comes twice per day, once right before daylight and then again at dark. You will never see a mama rabbit go to a nest
Wow awesome video sharing ❤❤❤🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
🥹 As a huge animal rescuer and bunny advocate bunny moms only feed them twice a day sometimes a lil more but they always come without being seen to protect her babies from predators… if you think they are orphans the best trick I can give is keep em covered with the moms fur, and add some soft sticks around em! Mom will remove the sticks to feed them… if the nest looks undisturbed for a day then I would immediately take the babies… they cannot live long without mama and the milk… kitten replacement milk is the safest BUT you have to be so careful with bottle feedings because you can suffocate the babies without even realizing! Always look for a milk line belly to know when full… keep always warm! I always feed three times a day and sometimes more if the baby needs it… I always check for dehydration as well… best of luck is always my words of encouragement… also the bottles at Walmart are the best! And make sure the milk is warm and safe! I just use warm water from the sink and test on my wrist… while gathering the babies I’ll let the bottles sit in a warm sink until I’m ready and again test to make sure temp is ok… keep babies clean! Esp after feedings! You can also find the kitten replacement at Walmart to! Bunnies are delicate and so precious! They will need to be fed for 9 weeks! You can gradually introduce hay, and some pellets and safe veggies around 6 weeks! Water is always best given in a bowl… If a nest is found and mom is coming around a cage top found on bunny cages is the best thing I’ve ever used to keep the bunny nest safe! Just anchor it down with tent anchors… mom can freely come in and out from the door BUT any lawnmowers and foot traffic, dogs will leave them alone! I’ve even use like a small plastic pool over it to keep em extra safe… And lastly don’t release them if you think they can’t survive on their own! And if you think they can make sure it’s done in a safe spot!! I’ve always made sure they were close to me… but you as a person can tell what can be strong and what can’t! And letting something go and knowing they can’t survive and will suffer is cruel! Instincts are strong but still they need their mom to help them mature to survive and teach them how to!
Hello from Hillsborough, North Carolina. Your garden is beautiful-thank you for sharing with us on here. I season my roasted chicken by the Scarborough Fair song (Simon and Garfunkel-parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme) sometimes add onion or garlic or a citrus depending on what my plan is for the chicken. My family loves fajitas, so we may try chicken with the flavors you suggest here-looks delicious.
I was introduced to you and your homestead when you shared on Marjorie Wildcraft online stream and have been learning ever since. What are you growing in your rainbarrel? So glad you still make time to share!
I always plant my calendula seeds too late here in North Texas. I am putting them in tomorrow!! Thanks for the reminder. Have a beautiful day and a blessed Thanksgiving.
Woohoo! So excited for you in regards to your book. We met years ago when the Rhodes visited in Dallas. We have a small homestead in Sanger with goats, chickens, a large garden, and occasionally beef cows. I am always learning and plan to rewatch your videos regarding rabbits as we are hoping to take them on soon. You always inspire me. I will be praying for success regarding your book. The cover has a Lois Lenski vibe to it which immediately draws me in. As an early educator (currently teaching preschool part time), I am always on the look out for well-written books to add to my collection. Have a beautiful and blessed day!
Hi Donna, I remember, time flies! Oh I so want goats! I would love to help with rabbits when the time comes. Such kind words & thx for praying for our book! oooh I will have to look Lois up. I have 7 books written in the series so far because when you hang around animals long enough they do FUNNY things! My friend has goats on her farm so I get lots of funny stories from her.
Please share the recipe for that Apple Cider vinegar remedy.
I have not yet seen someone store their seeds like this in a photo album. That is such a good idea!
thx, I always like to see how other people store their seeds!
Hi Dash! Good to see you. 😊
Thanks for taking the time to say hi! Gardening & friends make my week!
Am I the only one that noticed how many contradictions she made
Chicken are very difficult to take care. My 3 chickens died too.
Hi neighbor! I'm in DFW (Fort Worth) loved the video and very helpful with these nasty bugs :(
Hi neighbor! Thanks for letting me know it was helpful. I know! I hate those bugs!
I thought it was a 1:1 ratio.
Haven't finished the video yet but just wanted to say yay! You're back!!! ❤️❤️❤️ I've missed your videos!
Hi Beverly! I got this comment when I was on the go so didn't get to answer, but it made my day!
Miss your videos. Hope y’all are doing well.
Awesome to find information readily available. Just need to reiterate the below.. They're not usually lost and don't need rescuing. The mothers feed 2 times a day usually and it's well spaced dawn or dusk. "Rescuing" isn't always a rescue. Sometimes yall killing them
Thank you for saying where you are. Denton here. I've been looking for a local gardener to follow.
Interesting that I've only had roosters with breathing problems. The last one a young bird, very sweet. He's my buddy. But he got real bad real fast and I treated him the same as the other two. 500mg of Amoxicillin. Clears it up in about 3 days. Just a single dose has done the trick.
What if you do have some degloving? One guy got it pretty bad from my dog and his back and foot have a little devolving not bleeding to bad though
I found me a nest with 3🐇🐇🐇but I haven't seen the come by. What kind of milk should I feed them??
3 minutes into the video and still no information in how to "rescue" a baby rabbit. Why can't people just get to the point from the title of the video?
I didn’t catch how to tell if they’re dehydrated
Velcro 1” wrapped on the neck works it just muffles the sound so it’s not as loud as when it doesn’t have one on make sure it’s just snug enough so he can drink and eat
Why dont you do them at night its much easier
❤baby bunnies in your pocket 🐰 ❤️ 💕 💖
Good for you!!! 💪🏻 Not an easy task.
Hey when I put some eggs in there I heard chirping but it wasn't hatching, what could this possibly mean
Dear we really didn't need to see you drill the hole. I didn't make it past the hose. But I get the idea. Beautiful result!
is there anyone in the Dallas area that can take for rescued baby bunnies?
We found 7 baby bunny and we took care of them and then wwe left them in the wild when old anaf and then all of them got a ten and1was left😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
I had a baby bunny have 2 cuts on them today. We disinfected it safely after doing research on it, and now it is eating, drinking, and walking around its enclosure to forage for greens, its ears are normal height raised, and we think it’s 6-7 weeks old, and female, we named her Sammy and we she wasn’t even in shock when we got her, we are making her an outdoor based cage that has tiny holes and a bottom to make sure nothing digs in, (the bottoms underground so she can eat the grass), she’s doing better and hopefully her cage is finished soon.
i just found a bunny today. my Leopard catouhula got him and his front paw seems broken. i dont have any rehabilitation centers near me, he seems about 1 month old but i dont know what i should do with his front paw?
PLEASE do not remove baby bunnies that are not with their mama - mother rabbits ONLY stay with them in the nest twice a day to feed them. They do this to reduce detection. They're usually near but will come back and look for them as soon as it's dark. If you ever want to hear a heartbreaking sound look up the sound of a mother bunny calling for her babies that she can't find. They will also not reject their babies based on human or other animal scents. I learned this knowledge firsthand from a rehabber when my golden retriever found a nest in my yard, and sure enough, I kept them overnight just to make sure they didn't need medical attention, and around 11 p.m., the mother came calling. They will return to their nest several times, looking for their kits.
Watching this because I have a nest in my garden and have never seen mama. I check on the babies and I’m hoping for the best.
I failed to break my broody. So i put her in our brooder and gave her eggs.
I need help I found a baby cottontail. I'm obsessed with rabbits/bunnies so this was treasure to me, but I can't tell if I'm able to keep it or not. Other websites say I can't, but videos say I can
So i got a wild baby bunny who got attacked by dogs and his back right leg is broken and it's bone is showing and i was wondering how to treat it does anyone have advice??
What companion plants to you plant for fall garden? When do you plant them? We are doing organic gardening I'd love to see a video on companion planting!
So um I founded 3 baby bunny's in my veggie garden
My dad found a baby rabbit in a hallway out our apartment complex. The rabbit’s doing well. We named him Robert. “Robert the Rabbit” “Roberta”, if the rabbit’s a female lol
If you are worried about cracking the pot while drilling. With a new hole when you get the center all the way through finish the hole from the other side. When enlarging the hole drill about half way from each side. This will also lessen the chances of a blowout when you punch through.
Gotta wonder if we should be using the dish soap on our dishes and silverwear eh.
What kind of antibiotic and what dosage per weight Thanks for the help.
You did great job!!
Very nice! This is one of the simpler methods I've seen.
I really like those cement blocks, and that wood is nice and thick too. So it will last many years, enough that I would prefer those for any easy option to get beds. I agree with you that those nice metal ones will last a lot longer, but you would have to consider the cost. If I could build two of those wood beds for less than the cost of a metal one then I would prefer the wood and I would still get at least a couple decades of use between the two. Great video! Would love to have you back on the show.
Tganks for this video!! We found 6 and this is so helpful so we can ensure they are well and safe before we decide what to do next
